MILTON-FREEWATER - Matthew Allen Shelden, 16, of 85263 Butler Grade Road died Aug. 23, 1999, in a tractor rollover accident on Frog Hollow Road, Walla Walla County.
Visitation will be until 8 tonight and 9 a.m.-noon Thursday at Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder St. The memorial service will be 3 p.m. Friday at the Village Seventh-day Adventist Church, College Place, with Pastor David Thomas officiating. A private graveside service will be in Mountain View Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Walla Walla Valley Academy Music Department or a charity of the donor's choice through the funeral home.
Matthew was born Feb. 13, 1983, in Walla Walla to Neil R. and Laurel Niderost Shelden. He attended Country Garden Grade School, Rogers Elementary School and Walla Walla Valley Academy.
A sports enthusiast, he also was a talented fisherman and loved cars. His accomplishments were in music and he loved his tenor saxophone. He took great pride in his scholastic achievements throughout his academic career.
He was known for his kindness and generosity and for treating others with love and respect. He enjpyed spending time with family and friends and living life to the fullest.
He was a member of the Village Church and the Walla Walla Valley Academy Band and Symphony Orchestra.
Survivors indude his parents, of Milton-Freewater; two brothers, Hart Shelden of Twenb-nine Palms Marine Corps Base, Calif., and Cameron Shelden of MiltonFreewater, his grandparents, Neil M. and Flora Shelden, and Richard and Lou Niderost, all of Walla Walla; five cousins and several aunts and uncles.
